Dengir Mir Mehmet Fırat is Board
Member and Deputy Chairman (Political and Legal
Affairs) of the Justice and Development Party (AK
Parti). On November 3rd, 2002 he was elected as a
member of the Turkish Grand National Assembly,
representing Mersin.
He received his Bachelors of Law
degree from the Ankara University in 1967. Following
his graduation he started his law apprenticeship at
Mersin judicial court. In 1971 he opened his
personal law office as registered to the Mersin bar.
While he was working as a lawyer,
he also dealt with citrus trade. He has been a
member of administrative board of the Mediterranean
Exporting Union. He was an MP candidate for Justice
Party representing Adıyaman in 1973. He founded a
branch of the True Path Party in Adıyaman in 1983
and was a member at the Central Decision Board of
the Party. In 1999 he was elected as MP of Adıyaman
from the Virtue Party. He was a member of the
General Administrative Board. In 1999 he was a
member of the Justice Committee and Planning/Budget
Committee of the Parliament. Following the closed
down of the Virtue Party, he actively joined the
activities of the establishment of the Justice and
Development Party.
He was born in 1945 (Adıyaman),
he is married with 2 children.
