AK PARTY is a mass party who defines itself as 'Conservative
Democrat'.
AK PARTY represents a new style of politics
and a new understanding in the Turkish political
life.
Turkey is in a position to be a bridge between East
and West, Islam and Christianity and Europe and
Asia. The understanding of the AK PARTY,
which emphasizes both universal as well as local and
traditional values, together with secular and
democratic structure of Turkey, stresses the culture
of compromise in national and international
political grounds.
AK PARTY believes that the way of
organizational structure, which makes a distinction
between "us" and "others", and builds its policy on
the ground of a special sect, ethnic group or
religious belief while opposing the others, does
have diversified and exclusive implications on the
society. Regional, religious and ethnic nationalisms
which based on exclusion are the red lines of the
AK PARTY.
Perception of 'conservatism' in the AK PARTY
is; a modernity which doesn't exclude tradition,
universality which accepts locality, rationality
which doesn't reject spirit and the change without
going into radicalism.
Instead of the old, strait-laced understanding of
the 'conservatism',
AK PARTY is engaged modern and contemporary
'conservatism' which is open to the new.
AK PARTY is a reformist movement, which is
improving in an evolutionary and natural manner and
which defines a change as it is based on societal
transformation.
